About Oregon Meat Goat Producers
Oregon
Meat Goat Producers was formed in January 2003 to promote, market, educate and network the successful raising of meat goats.
Our members range from producing several market kids per year to individuals who are just learning
about them. Our seminars, held several times each year, are geared toward the novice goat raiser but there is always something new to learn. Every member is interested in our marketing plan which is evolving and improving as we proceed.
We have a Chair that handles youth programs, shows and other activities.
Oregon Meat Goat Producers is an organization that promotes and expands the meat goat industry on a local level through education, cooperative marketing, presentations, shows and networking, using honest and fair trading. We have low annual membership costs that are used in part to sponsor children in FFA and 4-H in their goat raising and showing efforts. Scholarships are awarded each year.
We produce a great monthly news letter full of information pertaining to all things meat goat. As a member in good standing you can submit pictures or articles for the newsletter. We have nine board meetings during the year that are open to the membership and the public. Come and be a part of what is happening. We have an annual membership meeting that gives us a chance to all come together, socialize, have fun and elect our officers for the following year. As a paid member in good standing you can run for any of the offices that are coming vacant.
Please contact us for more information if you are interested in these very productive animals. We welcome anyone with an interest in raising and marketing meat goats -- no matter where you live.
If you are a past member please consider renewing your membership and ask your friends that raise goats to join us as well. 2013 is going to be a great year to be a member of OMGP and we plan to keep it going in the future.
